Best Times of Year for Family Photos in Florida

Family of four laughing together during an outdoor session

"When should we book?" has a different answer in Florida than anywhere else, so here's our honest month-by-month read after years of shooting this coast.

October through November is the crown jewel — the humidity finally breaks, evening light turns gold, and holiday-card season means our fall mini session dates open (and fill within days; the newsletter hears first). December stays gorgeous, with the bonus of visiting grandparents who can finally be in the photos instead of taking them.

January through April is Florida's secret season. Cool mornings, low humidity, and the beaches at their emptiest — sunrise sessions this time of year are effortless, and spring azaleas put on a show in Orlando's parks around late February.

Summer gets a bad reputation it only half deserves. Yes, it's hot — which is exactly why we shoot sunrise on the coast from June through September. By 8am we're done, the kids are promised ice cream for breakfast, and the gallery looks like a postcard. Afternoon storms make evening sessions a gamble, so mornings win all summer.

The real answer, though: the best time is the season of life your family is in right now. Kids don't pause between Octobers.
